Adult Congenital Heart Disease Fellowship
Our program accepts one senior fellow each year for a two year position. Applicants are welcome through either adult or pediatric cardiology training pathways and the curriculum is tailored to the background of the applicant.
The training program will emphasize both outpatient and inpatient care of adults with congenital heart disease. It is an integrated program between Seattle Children’s Hospital and The University of Washington Medical Center. Trainees will gain experience in specialized ACHD care including the management of ACHD patients with arrhythmias, pregnancy, heart failure, those needing advanced heart failure therapy, cardiac and non-cardiac surgery. Fellows will be expected to participate in research and educational initiatives during their training.
Eric Krieger, MD, Associate Director, ACHD Fellowship Program
- Stephen Seslar, MD (Electrophysiology)
- Melissa Robinson, MD (Electrophysiology)
- April Stempien-Otero, MD (Heart Failure and Transplantation)
Other non-ACHD faculty from the University of Washington and Seattle Children's are integrally involved in ACHD Fellowship training.

All ACHD fellow applicants must have successfully completed, or be in the process of completing, an ACGME-accredited Adult or Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Program. Applications will be accepted from July 1, 2017 - September 30, 2017. Interviews will be held in the November/December timeframe. We will offer fellowship positions on the common offer date set by the group of US ACHD fellowships who have agreed to participate in a common offer day. This date is typically during the last week of November or the first week of December. The common offer day process ensures fellow applicants are not pressured to decide on fellowship offers before visiting other programs of interest.
We have filled our positions for 2018 - please check back in June 2018 for information regarding July 2019.
