The University of Washington is one of the largest, best supported, and most productive research universities in the world. Our trainees have access to a broad spectrum of outstanding research at the University of Washington and at affiliated institutions: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research CenterBloodworks Northwest (formerly Puget Sound Blood Center), and    VA Puget Sound Medical Center.

Research training opportunities are available in laboratory-based, clinical, and population-based research. All fellows are expected to actively participate in a research project during the fellowship.  For fellows seeking to develop a career as an independent cardiovascular investigator we recommend the Cardiovascular Research Scholar Program – two years of intense training in laboratory-based, epidemiologic or clinical research.
